Common Questions

We’re here to make your landscaping project go as smoothly as possible. Browse our most common questions to find quick, helpful answers about our products, ordering, delivery, and more.

How much will 1 yard cover?

One cubic yard of bark dust, soil, compost, stone, or sand will cover approximately 108 square feet when applied at a depth of 3 inches. If you need to cover a smaller area or apply a thicker layer, you'll need to adjust the amount accordingly. You can use our Materials Calculator to see exactly how many yards you’ll need for your project.

What’s the difference between a yard and a unit?

A yard is a much smaller measurement of landscaping supplies than a unit. A unit is roughly 7.5 yards.

Do you deliver?

Schlegel Barkdust offers delivery to many locations on the west side of the Portland metro area. If you're not sure whether your address is within our delivery range, just give us a call—we're happy to check for you and provide a quote for delivery costs.

Can you deliver more than 1 product in a load?

In most cases, we can deliver up to two different products in a single trip. It depends on the total volume and weight of the materials being ordered. Just reach out with your product choices, and we’ll let you know what can be combined in one load.

Can I pick up products?

Absolutely! But, it will depend on the volume and weight of the product you order and whether or not your vehicle can carry it. A yard of rock will weigh more than the same volume of barkdust. If you’re not sure if your vehicle can handle what you’re ordering, feel free to give us a call to discuss it.

Are you open to the general public?

Yes! Schlegel Barkdust is open to the public and proudly serves everyone from professional landscapers and contractors to homeowners working on DIY projects. Whether you need bulk materials for a large job or just a yard or two for your garden, you're welcome to stop by—we’re here to help!

Do you offer bark dust blow in?

Unfortunately, no. While we can deliver product to your location, we aren't equipped to help with blow in services. You can read more about the pros and cons of blowing in bark dust here to see if it's the right choice for you.
