Common Questions

We’re here to make your landscaping project go as smoothly as possible. Browse our most common questions to find quick, helpful answers about our products, ordering, delivery, and more.

If you have any question or would like to place an order for some barkdust, mulch, soil, sand, or rock, feel free to contact us. We're happy to help!

How much will 1 yard cover?

Downward facing arrow

One cubic yard of bark dust, soil, compost, stone, or sand will cover approximately 108 square feet when applied at a depth of 3 inches. If you need to cover a smaller area or apply a thicker layer, you'll need to adjust the amount accordingly. You can use our Materials Calculator to see exactly how many yards you’ll need for your project.

What’s the difference between a yard and a unit?

Downward facing arrow

A yard is a much smaller measurement of landscaping supplies than a unit. A unit is roughly 7.5 yards.

Do you deliver?

Downward facing arrow

Schlegel Barkdust offers delivery to many locations on the west side of the Portland metro area. If you're not sure whether your address is within our delivery range, just give us a call—we're happy to check for you and provide a quote for delivery costs.

Can I pick up products?

Downward facing arrow

Absolutely! But, it will depend on the volume and weight of the product you order and whether or not your vehicle can carry it. A yard of rock will weigh more than the same volume of barkdust. If you’re not sure if your vehicle can handle what you’re ordering, feel free to give us a call to discuss it.

Can I mix two products in one delivery?

Downward facing arrow

Yes! We can deliver up to two different products in a single load, provided the combined order meets our minimum delivery requirements and stays within the maximum capacity for each product. This is a great way to save time and reduce delivery costs when your project requires multiple materials.

How soon can my order be delivered?

Downward facing arrow

Many orders can be scheduled within 24 to 48 hours after you approve your quote, depending on product availability and our delivery schedule. We'll work with you to find the earliest delivery date that fits your needs.

Do I have to be home?

Downward facing arrow

Homeowners don't need to be home as long as you've provided clear instructions for where you'd like the materials dumped. If the delivery location is behind a gate, please provide the gate code in advance. We do ask that contractors and landscapers be present to direct the driver upon arrival.

Are you open to the general public?

Downward facing arrow

Yes! Schlegel Barkdust is open to the public and proudly serves everyone from professional landscapers and contractors to homeowners working on DIY projects. Whether you need bulk materials for a large job or just a yard or two for your garden, you're welcome to stop by—we’re here to help!

Do you offer bark dust blow in?

Downward facing arrow

Unfortunately, no. While we can deliver product to your location, we aren't equipped to help with blow in services. You can read more about the pros and cons of blowing in bark dust here to see if it's the right choice for you.
