Collecting a Good Soil Sample

Collect soil from about 4 to 6 inches deep for most landscape beds and vegetable gardens.
Mix the samples together before testing.

How to Raise Soil pH
If your soil is too acidic, the most common amendment is agricultural lime.
Agricultural Lime

Dolomitic lime adds both calcium and magnesium.
The amount needed depends on your soil type and current pH. Sandy soils generally require less lime than clay soils.
